abstract = "The Juqui{\'a} Alkaline Suite occurs in the southern portion of
the Ribeira Belt. It constitutes a circular zoned intrusion, with
actually exposed area about 14 kmē, seated in partially fenitized
gneisses. In this region occur olivine-pyroxenites and
pyroxenites, followed by nefeline-syenites, ijolites, melteijites
and urtites, besides central carbonatite occupying around 2.5 kmē,
forming subanelar concentric pattern. Carbonatite Alkaline
intrusions located in the Vale do Ribeira (SP-PR) have great
significance on the national scene and have been exploited for
phosphate for over 50 years. Reflectance spectroscopy data of rock
and soil samples of carbonatite, mainly weathered, and barite from
veins were acquired in laboratory by the ASD-FieldSpec-3
Hi-Resolution spectrometer. The reflectance spectroscopy has
proved to be a relevant tool to the investigation of the
Juqui{\'a} Alkaline Suite, including the carbonatite rocks and
the products of weathering. It was possible to obtain through the
technique, the qualitative composition of the main carbonate phase
(Fe-dolomite), the identification of neoformed minerals, such as
hydroxyapatite in isalterite. The technique has also proved to be
a fast and low cost alternative to the identification of rare
earth elements. The new data can help the discovery and
delimitation of new carbonatite occurrences through multispectral
                         optical remote sensing.",
